Donations fund new wells in rural Uganda

Lorraine Hoffman honored

Benjamin named interim dean of students
Mimi Benjamin, assistant to the vice president for student affairs, has been named interim dean of students effective Sept. 8. She will remain in the position until a permanent dean of students is selected later this fall. A national search is under way.
Sloss to Hall of Fame
Margaret Wragg Sloss, the first woman to earn the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Iowa State, will be inducted (posthumously) into the Iowa Women's Hall of Fame on Saturday. Sloss, for whom ISU's Margaret Sloss Women's Center is named, also was a longtime professor at Iowa State and a leader for women in the sciences. She died in 1979.

ISU alumnus Lee Jang-Moo recently became president of Seoul National University. Lee earned a Ph.D. in engineering mechanics from Iowa State in 1975.

Iowa State ranks 38th out of 245 national public and private universities. The ranking is based on three criteria: community service, research and commitment to educating lower-income students.
