Design students to present ideas for Campustown at public meeting April 25

AMES, Iowa -- Students from Iowa State University's College of Design will present their Campustown area urban design proposal for public discussion at 7 p.m., April 25, at Crawford School, 415 Stanton Ave., Ames. The presentation to Ames city planners and the South Campus Neighborhood Association is free and open to the public.

The area studied is bounded by Lincoln Way on the north, Knapp Street on the south, Sheldon Avenue on the west and Ash Avenue on the east.

The 10 students from architecture, landscape architecture and community and regional planning have been studying the area all semester in their architecture studio class.

"Although strictly hypothetical, their work addresses a number of critical issues facing the neighborhood and offers an alternative vision for what it could become," said Matthew Fisher, lecturer in architecture and instructor for the class.

The public is invited to view their drawings and models from 7 - 7:30 p.m. The presentation will begin at 7:30 p.m., followed by open discussion.
