Humorist and author of "Coop" will speak at Iowa State Feb. 27

AMES, Iowa -- Michael Perry, the humorist and author of bestselling memoirs, will speak about his new book, "Coop: A Year of Poultry, Pigs, and Parenting," at Iowa State University. The talk will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, in the Memorial Union Sun Room. It is free and open to the public. The presentation is part of the university's Symposium on Wildness, Wilderness and the Creative Imagination.

Perry is the author of the memoirs "Population 485: Meeting Your Neighbors One Siren at a Time" and "Truck: A Love Story," and the essay collection "Off Main Street." He has written for several publications, including Esquire, The New York Times Magazine, Outside and Salon.com. Perry is a contributing editor to Men's Health. He also is a singer/songwriter and has released two compact discs of original, folk-country music with his band The Long Beds. He lives in rural Wisconsin.
