Iowa African-American Hall of Fame seeks nominations for 2011

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa African-American Hall of Fame, a division of Iowa State University's Black Cultural Center, is accepting nominations for 2011 inductees.

Founded in Des Moines in 1995, the Iowa African-American Hall of Fame recognizes major contributions that have improved the quality of life for Iowans. Induction into the Hall of Fame is the highest honor an individual can receive by the African-American community. Nominees may be living or deceased.

Nomination guidelines and materials are available by contacting Rose Wilbanks in ISU's Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, 515-294-1909 or email rwilbank@iastate.edu. Nomination forms must be postmarked no later than May 31. Late nominations will not be accepted. More information on the Iowa African-American Hall of Fame is available at www.iaahf.org.

Those selected for the Hall of Fame will be inducted at an Aug. 5 ceremony at The Meadows Event and Conference Center, Prairie Meadows, Altoona.
