IOWA STATE TO HOST BIG 12 MIS RESEARCH SYMPOSIUM APRIL 2-4

AMES, Iowa -- The Big 12 MIS (Management Information Systems) Research Symposium will be hosted by Iowa StateUniversity's College of Business Friday, April 2, to Sunday, April 4. It will be in the Gerdin Business Building.

The symposium creates an informal setting for Big 12 business technology faculty and doctoral students to exchangeideas and explore new research.

The symposium allows participants to network and collaborate for funding proposals and technology research. Graduatestudents may also learn about job opportunities at other Big 12 universities.

"We are pleased to host this year's Big 12 MIS Symposium," said event coordinator, G. Prem Premkumar, professor ofmanagement information systems. "The event includes research presentations by MIS faculty and doctoral students,research networking sessions, two panel sessions, discussion on curriculum development and a keynote address by RobertZmud, the Michael J. Price Chair in Management Information Systems at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, which willprovide our attendees with great information about many topical issues in the information technology industry. Thepanel session on Sunday will examine pedagogical issues related to MIS programs."

An evening event will be in the Alliant Energy -- Lee Liu Auditorium, Howe Hall, at the Virtual Reality ApplicationsCenter (VRAC). Participants will tour the facility and learn about how the colleges of Engineering and Business areworking together to offer a degree in human computer interaction.

"The conference rotates among the Big 12 universities and we thought that the new Gerdin Business Building and VRACfacility would provide the perfect venue for this year's event," said Anthony Hendrickson, associate dean for academicprograms and associate professor of management information systems. "It will provide an opportunity for graduatingdoctoral students in management information systems to see our facilities at Iowa State, meet our faculty, and considerIowa State as a possible future home."
