IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY COMMENCEMENT IS MAY 9-10
AMES, Iowa -- Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack will present the keynote address at Iowa State University's undergraduate commencement ceremony at 1:30 p.m. on May 10 at Hilton Coliseum.
Vilsack received a bachelor's degree from Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y. in 1972, and a law degree from Albany (N.Y.) Law School in 1975. A former Mt. Pleasant mayor and Iowa legislator, Vilsack was elected governor in 1998 and re-elected to a second term in 2002.
Iowa State University graduates receiving the doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM) degree will be honored at noon on May 10 during a special ceremony at Stephens Auditorium. Dr. Deborah Turner, member of the Board of Regents, State of Iowa and a Des Moines gynecologic oncologist, will give the DVM commencement address. Turner is a Mason City native who received her undergraduate degree in distributed studies from Iowa State in 1973. She earned her M.D. from The University of Iowa.
Others receiving graduate degrees will be recognized during a separate commencement ceremony on Friday, May 9, at 8 p.m. in Stephens Auditorium. They will hear remarks from Stan Johnson, vice provost for Extension and Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture.
Tickets are not required for any of the ceremonies.
