IOWA STATE'S MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPY CLINIC OFFERS WAR-RELATED STRESS, GRIEF COUNSELING
AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University's Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences is offering war-related counseling services.
Ronald Werner-Wilson, director of the clinic, said clinic therapists take a holistic approach to counseling clients.
"Our therapists focus on the influences both within and outside of the family that may be affecting clients," Werner-Wilson said. "Families are disrupted in a variety of ways when an immediate family member is called to action. And, people in general may feel stress due to the war. Personal issues such as uncertainty, homeland security fears and financial strains may need to be talked about."
Werner-Wilson said the clinic can help with services such as couple communication, marital stress, parent-child relationships, adolescent issues, depression and grief and loss. Fees are based on income using a sliding scale. Day and evening appointments are available.
