21ST ANNUAL IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY FASHION SHOW TO BE PRESENTED APRIL 4-5 AT FISHER THEATER
AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University students will show off their latest fashion designs during "Instinct, Intuition, Interpretation (All Eyes): The 21st Annual Textiles and Clothing Fashion Show." The show will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 4-5, at Fisher Theater, Iowa State Center.
Tickets are $8.50 for Friday's show and $10.50 for Saturday's show and awards presentation. Tickets will be available beginning Friday, March 7, through Ticketmaster, (515) 233-1888, or purchased at the Iowa State Center Ticket Office.
A High Tea to display student designs will be at noon, Saturday, April 5, in the Joan Bice Underwood Tea Room, room 23, MacKay Hall. Tickets for the High Tea are $30 per person or $50 for a couple. To purchase these tickets, contact fashion show producers Ashley Drahn, (515) 770-6962, or Sarah Schlenger, (515) 451-3243.
The show will feature student-created casual, evening, children's and experimental wear fashions. The show will also feature cutting-edge, digitally printed fashion designs as used by fashion show faculty advisors and assistant professors of textiles and clothing, J.R. Campbell and Jean Parsons, to create the inauguration gown worn by Iowa's First Lady, Christie Vilsack.
This year, the fashion show will have entertainment throughout the production. The Iowa State Modsquad will perform along with a poetry reading. Music for the show will be provided by area DJs Christopher Hyde and John Solarz.
"Instinct, intuition, interpretation comprise the evolutionary process of designing a garment. Instinct is knowing what you like and what you would wear. Intuition is knowing what others like and would like to wear. Interpretation is how the audience/customer views and interprets your design. All Eyes is just a play on the 3 Is that make up the theme. It also means our show is the center of attention and so are the designs. All eyes are on us," said fashion show's student co-producers, Sarah Schlenger and Ashley Drahn.
