IOWA STATE COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY PROGRAM RANKED HIGH IN RESEARCH PRODUCTIVITY STUDY
AMES, Iowa -- Iowa State University's counseling psychology program has been ranked third internationally in a research productivity study conducted at the University of Akron, Ohio.
The Diegelman, Uffleman, Wagner, Diegelman study ranked Iowa State just behind the University of Maryland-College Park and the University of Missouri-Columbia. The study looked at research published in the four major counseling journals from 1996-2000.
"This ranking affects how we are viewed by our peers, so it is important as we continue to try to hire top-flight faculty and recruit the very best graduate students," said Doug Epperson, program director and professor of psychology.
Counseling psychologists provide counseling and psychotherapy, teach, and conduct research with individuals as well as with families and organizations. The American Psychological Association has accredited the program since 1973. Iowa State's counseling psychology program is part of the department of psychology.
