His three-year appointment as chair began July 1. Chacko succeeds Russell Laczniak, who will be returning to teaching and research. Chacko came to Iowa State in 1980. He teaches and researches human resource management practices and their impact on firm performance and in particular, on practices that create a high-performance organization. He is a member of the Academy of Management, Industrial Relations Research Association, and the International Industrial Relations Association. He is also a member of the Iowa State University Faculty Senate, on the Senate Task Force on Reorganization, and the Faculty Senate Judiciary and Appeals Council. Chacko has served in a number of administrative positions during his tenure at ISU. He was chair of the department of management from 1984 to 1988, interim associate dean for graduate studies from 1989 to 1990, and associate dean from 1990 to 1993. He has served as the associate editor of the International Journal of Management and on the editorial review board of the Journal of Managerial Issues.
