McELROY NAMED ASSOCIATE DEAN OF UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS FOR ISU'S COLLEGE OF BUSINESS

AMES, Iowa -- James McElroy, university professor and professor of management for Iowa State University's College of Business, has been named associate dean for undergraduate programs. McElroy will be responsible for undergraduate programs, career services and physical facilities. His three-year appointment as associate dean begins July 1.

McElroy came to Iowa State in 1979. He teaches and researches organizational behavior, employee attitudes and behavior, attribution theory, and employee turnover and work commitment. He serves as a reviewer for a number of academic journals, and sits on the editorial boards of the Journal of Vocational Behavior, the Journal of Managerial Issues and the Journal of Labor Research.

McElroy has served in a number of administrative positions during his tenure at Iowa State. He was director of industrial relations for the college from 1989 to 1992. He was also the chair of the departments of management, marketing, and transportation and logistics from 1990 to 1993 and interim associate dean from 2000-2002. He received a bachelor of science degree in 1971 from Jamestown College, Jamestown, N.D.; a master's of business administration in 1972 from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, S.D.; and a doctor of philosophy degree in 1979 from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK.
