SUMMER LECTURE SERIES TO FOCUS ON LEADERSHIP AND FCS EDUCATION

AMES, Iowa -- The second annual summer lecture series on leadership in family and consumer sciences education will be hosted by Iowa State University's College of Family and Consumer Sciences this July. The lectures, which are free and open to the public, begin at 7:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, July 16, Francine Hultgren, professor of education at the University of Maryland, will present "Seeing Educational Change Through the Autobiographical Eye." Dr. Hultgren's work focuses on the educational value of stories and autobiographical reflection. The lecture will be held in Benton Auditorium in the Scheman Building.

Tuesday, July 22, Sharon Redick, professor emerita of Ohio State University, will present "International Family Issues--Focus on the Middle East." Dr. Redick has extensive experience in a variety of countries, particularly Egypt, and believes there is great value in learning to understand and appreciate Middle Eastern family life. The lecture will take place in Room 275 of the Scheman Building.

Tuesday, July 29, Merrilyn Cummings, associate professor of family and consumer sciences at New Mexico State University, will present "The Future Belongs to Us: Mentors for the Next Generation of Family and Consumer Sciences Professionals." Cummings' work focuses on mentoring strategies and relationships between seasoned and new professionals. The lecture will be held in Room 275 of the Scheman Building.
