IOWA STATE PROFESSOR RECEIVES EDUCATION AWARD
AMES, Iowa -- Barbara Licklider, associate professor of educational leadership and policy studies, recently received the 2003 Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Technology at the 14th International Conference on College Teaching and Learning, Jacksonville, Fla.
Corly Brooke, associate vice provost for undergraduate programs and director of the Center for Teaching Excellence at Iowa State, nominated Licklider.
"We recommended Barbara for the award because of her profound knowledge and research of the best learning principles," Brooke said. "She is very dedicated to the learner-centered approach to teaching and works tirelessly on creating collaborative groups of faculty as part of Project LEA/RN. This innovative program enhances teaching skills, fosters collaboration, and supports faculty in implementing interactive and cooperative learning strategies in the classroom. The Center for Teaching Excellence is proud to nominate Dr. Licklider for this well-deserved recognition of her exemplary teaching skills."
This national award is given to a faculty member who uses innovative teaching strategies to bolster student learning.
